Our Top Three Tips for Keeping Your Children Safe and Happy During the Lockdown

Jan 15, 2021

Hi everyone! My name is Rachael and I am the founder of UNAnannies.

In this truly extraordinary situation, I think it's really important to be thinking about your children's wellbeing, as we've all switched to remote learning and remote working.

So today I’d like to share with you my top three tips for keeping your children safe and happy during the lockdown 3.0.

Top tip number one: take breaks

It's so important that, although you have your day and possibly your work schedule and your skill schedule in place, you must factor in breaks that would normally be within those settings. Make sure you take time to regroup, recuperate, grab some lunch, nourish yourself -  ultimately this will help you with your concentration when you are working.

Top tip number two: get outside where possible

Go for a walk, go for a jog, or go for a bike ride. You will still be meeting the national lockdown rules if you are getting outside for an hour and getting some fresh air. It's so important because it will increase your concentration, and ultimately, it will help make sure that there are no long-lasting impacts on the bedtime routine since your kids won’t have been cooped up inside the house all day.

Top tip number three: no pressure

This is an extraordinary situation that most of us will have never been in before, apart from the other two lockdowns. Therefore, there's no pressure. Yes, it is great to be doing work with your kids, but you ultimately have to be doing what is best for you and your family. And there is no judgment coming from anybody, so no pressure at all. If you have an off day and you don't get things done as much as you would like, don't worry about it, just try and do better the next day. This is a no-pressure zone and no one is judging you.

So just to recap, my top three tips are to take breaks, get outside, and remember there’s no pressure.

Take breaks, this will help your concentration. Get outside - fresh air is awesome for you, and number three, no pressure. Everyone is just trying to navigate through the situation in their own way, including us. I am now working from my remote home office while writing this blog. Consequently, everybody is just doing whatever they can in these tough times.
